Far too often, crew find themselves working on a vessel that is undergoing a planned refit or accept a job on board a new build, with little to no formal training.

The skills required for construction and project management differ drastically from those needed for an operational yacht. This knowledge gap can lead to costly delays, operational inefficiency, and significant financial risk for the owner.

The Crew Academy has been at the forefront of addressing this challenge. In 2023, we were commissioned by SYBAss and IAMI to create the Yacht Owner’s Representative Program (YORP) to professionalise and standardise the role of the Owner’s Representative.

Our new suite of 2026 programs is built on this foundation, to improve training, and make the industry better and more efficient by ensuring crew possess the essential knowledge before they start the job.
