Job Description

House Manager/ Head of House

We are looking for an experienced Head of House to join a beautiful country estate and take responsibility for the day-to-day running.

This is a hands-on position for someone who has experience working for UHNW private families or on superyachts, and who is confident managing a household team while also being happy to get involved themselves.
The successful candidate will work closely with the existing team, bringing structure, organisation and day-to-day leadership to the house. They will be responsible for ensuring the property is well presented, organised and ready for the family and guests, while also being comfortable providing hands-on housekeeping and service when required.

Contract: 6-month contract, with potential to become permanent
Salary: £75,000-£80,000 TBD based on experience.
Accommodation: Live in, private 2-bedroom cottage within the estate
Start: Asap

Key responsibilities

  • Managing and coordinating the housekeeping team
  • Hands-on housekeeping when required
  • Preparing the house for the family and guests
  • Laundry, wardrobe and turn-down
  • Table setting and guest service
  • Supporting with breakfast, lunch and dinner when required
  • General front-of-house and household duties
  • Ensuring the house is organised, well presented and running smoothly
  • Working closely with the existing team and helping maintain a positive and collaborative household environment

The ideal candidate

  • Previous experience as a House Manager or Head House
  • Strong experience within a UHNW private household or luxury yacht
  • Hands-on, practical and happy to lead by example
  • Confident with guests and understands high standards of service and entertaining
  • Strong knowledge of housekeeping and household management
  • Comfortable working as part of an established team
  • Reliable, organised and able to take ownership of the running of the house
  • Good longevity in previous positions

This is a lovely opportunity to join a well-established private family and become part of a close and experienced household team. Many of the existing staff have been with the family for over 10 years, so this is a home where loyalty and long-term relationships are genuinely valued.

The role will initially be offered as a 6-month contract, with the opportunity to become permanent for the right candidate. We are looking for someone who is looking for a long-term position, takes pride in their work and would enjoy becoming a trusted part of an established team.
